Global Vote For "New 7 Wonders of Nature"
On July 21, the New 7 Wonders Foundation announced that the Grand Canyon and the Great Barrier Reef with 26 other spectacular natural landmarks entered into the final phase, for the global polling to choose the “New 7 Wonders of Nature”.
Bernard Weber, the initiator of the New 7 Wonders Foundation, said that over 1 billion people are expected to join in the voting via phone, short message and internet.
During different stages of human society, “7 Wonders of Nature” has been voted several times. The earliest one was initiated in the 3rd century BC. The “7 Wonders of Nature” put forward by Lowell Thomas is familiar to most of us. In that vote, Grand Canyon, Victoria Falls and Mount Qomolangma were on the final list.
The slogan of the “New 7 Wonders of Nature” is “If we want to save anything, we first need to truly appreciate it!”
